Strong-willed (A Tribute to an Unexpected Friend)

I admire people who are very reserved in dealing with issues, especially arguments. I admire people who hold true to their principles, but do not have to force them on other people. But most of all, I admire people who turn out to be your truest friends in the most unexpected of situations.

Just recently, in a slew of tremors and trials in my life, I never knew how I'd survive by myself. Suddenly, I did not know who my real friends are, and who have only been pretending to be my friends ever since the beginning.

As the issues went from a small spark to smoke, then smoke to fire, I felt so alone. I met two people who suddenly held me up and walked by me. One of them, I never expected to be there for me. They risked a lot just to back me up, while she in particular, risked the most. She challenged her friendship with other people and emerged from her silence to hold firm to her principles and fight for what we believe is right. She has always been a very reserved person, yet I never realized she was a true fighter deep in her heart.

I admire her for being the friend I never expected to be there for me. After what we've been through in the past, where I almost broke her trust, she was still there for me in my time of need--the need for sincerity, courage, and true friendship. For that, I will always be grateful.

And today, on her special day, I pay tribute, respect, and thanks to an unexpected, but true friend and Ate.

Happy Birthday Ate Roeri! May God bless you with happier years in your future ahead. Thank you for being there when I needed somebody to help me walk past the trials. Now, we have emerged with satisfied hearts, while staying true to our principles.

Some people don't know what they're missing when they took your friendship and trust for granted! ;)

awww. that's a very touching post, mark. it's great how you appreciate your friends and you've found out who your true friends are.

it's really hard to look for friends who are real and loyal. i got many friends but i don't trust them completely. i only have half a handful of best friends who have proven their friendship to me. those are the ones i plan to keep forever. =]

i agree ate mich.. some people kasi porke't they have their friend's trust na, they take it for granted. we should treasure our friends and thank them for being true to us and for helping us become better people. :)

friends are not meant to praise us all the time, too. they are there to remind us of our imperfections and sharpen up our inner selves. :)
